I grew up in East Texas graduating high school from Whitehouse ISD. I received my bachelors degree in Biology from Stephen F Austin State University. I also have a master’s degree in Educational Administration from UT Tyler.
I began my work here at Wells ISD in 2007 as the Curriculum Director. For several years, I served in that position at the same time I was teaching 5th and 6th science at the elementary. I spent a few years in the principal’s chair at the elementary before returning to Curriculum. I am also the Section 504 Coordinator.
Before finding my way to Wells, I started my educational career at Big Sandy Elementary (Upshur County). For seven years I taught 5th grade science and two years I served as the Assistant Principal at the elementary. Before all of that, I spent some time right out of college working in the quality control lab at Borden’s in Sulphur Springs and Tyler, Texas. I then spent a number of years in the education department at Caldwell Zoo in Tyler.
I have a a daughter, Sara, who graduated from Wells in 2014 and is currently enrolled at SFASU. She is known around here as Peanut, thanks to Mr. Moore. She loves basketball and played for Wells from the time she entered 7th grade until she graduated. You can see her at Wells basketball games keeping the clock. I also have a fur baby named Lizzie. She is an 11 year old dachshund with a big stubborn attitude.
I am the youngest of four (one brother is deceased) and the only girl.
I am a science teacher at heart so I love animals (including bugs) and the outdoors. I am a big SFA Lumberjack and Texas Rangers fan. I like going on walks, watch detective shows (NCIS is a favorite) and sitting on the porch.
