The Cherokee County Memories page is a cooperative project developed by Karla Harris' World History honors and Carla Lawson's English II honors classes at Rusk High School in Rusk, Texas, with the help and cooperation of Rusk High School Library.  This is an ongoing project in it's first year of development.  Students in the above classes went out and interviewed senior members of our community, gathered information and photos and transcribed their interviews into a readable format.  They also researched the history of our communities, gathering their information from the Handbook of Texas, local reference books, and old newspaper clippings.  Many thanks to the librarians at Singletary Memorial Library in Rusk and Jacksonville Public Library for their help in gathering resource materials.  We have every hope that this project will continue to grow and will be refined along the way as more resources are uncovered.
