Mission Statement

The faculty and students at Wells Independent School District believe it is an essential role of the community school to protect and preserve the collective memory of the region it services.  It is with this goal in mind that the Wells High School Social Studies Department began the "Preserving the Community Voice Oral History Project during the 2001/2002 Academic year.  Questionnaires were distributed to students and community organizations and the responses were many and varied.  The questionnaires were analyzed by the Wells High School Advanced Social Studies Class and a process of interviews was started.  The following are transcripts of the interviews made with the express permission of all involved.  Portions of these interviews may be used for scholarly purposes with the express permission of the Wells Independent School District.
