Wells staff members participated in a videoconference with Dr. Christopher R. Thomas, a professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. Thomas is also the Director of Residency Training for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Division at UTMB.
Dr. Thomas discussed how to recognize the
signs and symptoms of Attention Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder. He
also gave advice and answered questions on how to manage a classroom with
ADHD/ADD students.
Dr. Thomas explained the various medications
that help ADHD/ADD students focus their attention and control their behavior,
including some newer time-released medications that are given in a single
daily dose.
