Wells VFW Hosts "Support Our Troops" Rally
 
Wells Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1196 and it's Ladies Auxiliary sponsored a "Support Our Troops" rally on Loyalty Day, Friday, May 2nd, to honor community veterans and servicemen.
 
Wells students attending the rally showed their patriotism by wearing red, white and blue and carrying American flags.
 
 
After an opening prayer by Pastor David Lindwall, Roy Burroughs, Commander of VFW Post 1196 led everyone in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. 
 
 
 
 
 Martha Bailey sang the Star Spangled Banner before Mayor and VFW member Jerry Ellerbee gave his welcoming speech.
 
 
 
 
Wells Elementary 4th graders entertained the crowd with their rendition of "You're A Grand Old Flag."
 
 
5th graders performed "This Land is Your Land."  Both grades joined together to sing "America the Beautiful" for their final song.

Bobbye Burroughs asked all veterans, and all those who'd served in the military to stand and be recognized. 
 
 
 The crowd listened attentively as family members representing Wells' servicemen currently on active duty spoke of their loved ones.
 
 
 James Booker is the father of Ronnie Booker, Sgt., United States Marine Corps.  He is also the father of James Booker, Jr.
 
 
 Tara Greenville is the sister of Justin Greenville, serving in the U.S. Army 3rd Infantry.
 
 Not pictured is Betty Allen, Mother of Ben Allen, U.S. Army MP.
