Wells teacher tells students to "Go fly a kite"

Wells' art teacher, Harlan Neal, had his students design and construct kites for a recent class project.  Part of their grade depended on whether their "kite" could fly.

Students came up with a variety of materials, including bamboo, plastic bags, paper, and other items to use in the construction.

Some kites would need a lot of luck....and a high wind

or maybe a miracle......

Others actually got off the ground, proving once again that duct tape really does have a thousand uses.

Wait, don't you have to let go for it to fly, Mr. Neal?

Does six inches off the ground count as flying?

Hey, nobody said it had to be pretty, it just had to fly.

This is a picture of all the other kites that flew that day.  Hmmm...what can we say - they're artists, not engineers.
